Description

The C.B.Woodman Pharmacy was established by Charles B Woodman in 1869, in the Warren block at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets. For many years the store was known for its Woodman's Headache Powders, which were said to be effective, and a big seller.

In 1908, Charles Vallee, the father of singer Rudy Vallee, purchased the pharmacy. Rudy Vallee worked there for his father in his youth. It remained Vallee's Pharmacy until the early 1970s.

The building was built in the 1840s by John Warren. The top floors that once held doctor and dentist offices and apartments burned in a fire in 1942 and were removed. The corner of Main and Bridge street, is known locally as Vallee Square.
